One of the most beloved games in the last few years was a small, Australian-developed game by the name of Hollow Knight. Ever since the game released back in early 2017 it has been showered in praise and had a bunch of free DLC arrive for eager fans who wanted to play more. 2 years later and the game is now ready for a fully fledged sequel that has just been revealed by the 3-man Adelaide team over at Team Cherry.
Hollow Knight: Silksong started as a DLC for the original game but the project simply got too ambitious for it to remain as additional content. A reveal trailer for the game can be seen below.
In a blog post by Team Cherry the developers reveal more about Silksong and what players should expect. There’s no release date yet although we do know that this sequel will launch initially for PC, Mac and Switch, with more platforms potentially arriving at a later date.
The game will feature an entirely new kingdom to explore, a new suite of moves to perform, an expanding arsenal of weaponry, traps and mechanisms, exciting new quests, treasure, foes and music! There will also be a “Silk Soul” mode that will allow you to experience a new challenge once you’ve completed the game.
“As Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, adventure through a whole new kingdom haunted by silk and song. Captured and brought to an unfamiliar land, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.”
In a very generous move, the developers have also specified that Kickstarter backers who pledged $10 or more for the original Hollow Knight will receive the sequel absolutely free, on their choice of platform (including Switch). High tier backers who received multiple copies of Hollow Knight will also receive multiple copies of Silksong.
Are you excited for Hornet’s next adventure?
