If you’ve ever asked yourself the question “What would The Legend of Zelda and Ni No Kuni’s ‘game-baby’ look like?”, your answer would most definitely be the recently announced RPG title, Baldo. A new gameplay trailer has been released, showing a simple but vibrant cel-shaded world full of monsters, dungeon puzzles and magic. Being a huge fan of the Ni No Kuni series, I found myself instantly resonating with the trailer. Baldo has certainly left me wanting more footage to watch.
The trailer itself shows off several different locations to explore, many of which involve exploring the terrain and solving puzzles to unlock hidden areas. While there is also little information regarding the characters found in-game, it would appear that the controllable main character can wield many different weapons and items. Each varying landscape appears to come with it’s own set of challenges and will most likely require players to be strategic in how they explore.
The entertaining trailer aside, it wasn’t easy finding much info on Baldo, save the name of the Italian developers, Naps Team, who have remained tight lipped about the project, thus far. According to their twitter account Naps Team intend to release Baldo onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with no official release window yet announced. However, with the gameplay trailer looking as tight as it is one would hope its arrival is within the next year.
