As promised, Luigi’s Mansion 3 was shown off during Nintendo’s annual digital direct during E3. Luigi and his friends are looking forward to a stay in a luxurious hotel, but what do you know? It’s haunted! Luigi has to work his way through the hotel’s many floors and clear out its hoards of haunted inhabitants!
Much looks to be improved from the previous Luigi’s Mansion games. Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon improved much on the original, but it was lacking in terms of interesting ghosts and a mystery plot.
Its smooth graphics and tight controls were a major upgrade, however, and it added a huge variety to the kinds of environments Luigi could explore. Luigi’s Mansion 3 brings new moves for the spirit-sucking Poltergust, and the return of Gooigi for co-op mode. And most importantly, we can see the return of the “Mariooo?” function.
There’s also a brand new Scarescraper Mode, in which up to 8 players can play together in online or local play. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is confirmed to be coming out this year, though no firm date was given.
