One of Japan’s biggest online free-to-play RPG’s is finally heading to the west, coming to both Xbox One – Phantasy Star Online 2. Up until now the enduring MMORPG has only been playable outside of Japan using fan made mods.
The trailer shows off several battle scenarios with some amazing visuals to boot and several different fighters featured. In the spirit of being inclusive, Phantasy Star Online 2 will include cross-platform play and will include all previously released content from the game since 2012. The press release from SEGA states “there will be no limitations on game experiences such as Class Level cap or direct purchase of high-tier weapons because we want to provide all players with a fair and exciting experience.”
You might have heard of Phantasy Star Online, as the MMORPG was one of the first games to bring online play to consoles when the original launched on the ill-fated Dreamcast way back in the year 2000.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is slated for a 2020 release in Spring on the on the Xbox One. We guess, better late than never?
