The Sims 4 is getting a big expansion, as revealed during EA Play this morning. The expansion, by the name of Island Living, brings a tropical experience to The Sims 4 with an island paradise to enjoy. The expansion will bring about new beachwear and accessories, housing options, jet-skis, snorkelling, lounging in the sun, playing with dolphins, cleaning the ecosystem and way more.
Island Living is expected to releases for PC & MAC on June 21 and release for consoles on July 16. You can check out the full stream of the reveal below.
Island Living wasn’t the only cool piece of information to come out of The Sims either. In celebration of pride month, EA revealed some very LGBT+ friendly content as well. First and foremost a partnership with the It Gets Better Project was revealed. It Gets Better is a non-profit organisation who’s mission is to “uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe.”
This awesome partnership won’t just bring more awareness to an important organisation, but it will also bring LGBT+ content to The Sims. Specifically, it was mentioned that pride-themed clothing options were heading to The Sims 4, The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile on June 18th. There will also be a variety of other inclusive additions such as a gender-neutral bathroom door for The Sims 4.
It’s really great to see The Sims maintain an inclusive focus and continue to support the LGBT+ community. The Sims offered same-sex relationships since the very first release, and even had the very first same-sex kiss broadcast at E3 (even if it was unplanned). Hopefully this new partnership with the It Gets Better Project will continue to bring about awesome content and positive change.
