DOTA 2’s The International (TI) 2019 has concluded with the winning team making history in an epic conclusion to one of the biggest eSporting events ever. The International is a yearly competition that sees the best DOTA 2 pros competing on the main stage for glory and wealth. This year it was last year’s winners, OG, taking on fellow European team, Team Liquid, in the finals.
The final matches of TI 19 were amazing to watch and the end result broke records. In front of a live crowd in Shanghai, China and hundreds of thousands of live viewers, OG walked away with the win. Not only did they claim $15,603,133 USD in winnings, but they also became the first team to win twice, in back to back years no less.

The prize money taken home by the winning team is also the highest in eSports history. No doubt the boys from OG will be sitting comfortably with their $15 million. That’s only 45.5% of the total prize pool as well, which is a whopping $34,292,599 US split amongst the many competing teams.
DOTA 2 is a huge game in the eSports scene and The International continues to be one of the biggest eSports competitions ever. It continues to break records year after year with this year’s prize almost $10 million US larger than last year’s. Can things only get bigger from here? I guess we’ll have to wait for next year to find out.
