EA has finally announced the DLC that the Sims 4 sorely needed to fill the nebulous void where highschool ends and adulthood begins – University! After a leak surfaced that essentially confirmed the existence of the expansion pack, EA finally confirmed that everything was legitimate. They’ve announced that The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack will be releasing (for PC) mid November.
One of the more interesting (and realistic) choices available to sims in the game is which university they want to go to. Their choices are the historical University of Britechester or the modern Foxbury Institute. From there, it’s possible to either move into a dorm to stay closer to the school or stay in the home that they grew up in. Another addition is a new form of transport, bikes! Great for anyone who either lives on campus or doesn’t live too far away, and very accurate representation of uni, because in my experience, there were so many bikes.
The expansion does, of course, also come with a new variety of furniture for the sims to decorate their dorm rooms with. Posters, minifridges, anything that a person renting a small apartment would buy to stop it feeling like a glorified shoebox. The university of your choice will also have somewhere to buy apparel and decorative items themed after the school itself, so your sims will have something to bring home with them when their time at university ends.
Thinking logically though, college is all about the classes and each university will have a huge selection of them to choose from. Villainy, Biology, Computer Science and more, your sim can really choose a career path this time around, and you can control just how well they’re going to do in their studies. There are lectures to attend, term papers to work on, and presentations to give. And how your sim navigates this will affect their final grades. If you want your sim to be successful in the future, help them take the proper steps to getting a higher education, or don’t! It’s up to you.
The newest Sims 4 expansion will be coming November 15, 2019, on PC and Mac and December 17, 2019, on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. I look forward to seeing you in the lecture hall!
