Shenmue 3 first DLC ‘Battle Rally’ coming soon

Deep Silver and YsNet have announced the details and release date for the first post-release DLC for Shenmue 3. The Battle Rally DLC will release later this month, and offer “fresh gaming activities in a race unlike any other, as contestants engage in head-to-head battles whilst racing their way through the course.”

One major aspect of this DLC is the ability to play as a character other than series protagonist Ryo for the first time. Players will be able to put on the running shoes Ryo, as well as Wuying Ren or the newly introduced Wei Zhen, Ryo’s sparring partner. Players will be able to win some awesome items by competing in the races.

Aside from that, we don’t have many details of what the DLC will contain as of yet. For instance, we don’t yet know if there will be a multiplayer component with the races. Nor is it clear how the Battle Rally DLC and new character feature into Shenmue 3’s plot. We will have to wait for the DLC to release to find out more about what it contains.

For players who already own the Shenmue 3 Complete DLC Collection, the Battle Rally DLC will be free to download when it is available. For those who only own the base game, it will be available for purchase on January 21st.
