Make like a mobster and get shooting, Mafia: Trilogy has been confirmed for current generation consoles. The game will be a collection of the three games from both 2K and Hangar 13. The news comes after months of rumours and even leaks that hit overnight.
Rumours of a remaster of the 2nd Mafia game were circling as far back as last September, when new trademarks for the game appeared. Even earlier this week, fans thought the announcement was imminent when the words ‘Family,’ ‘Power’ and ‘Respect,’ were tweeted over a number of days. Still, the fact this became not just a remaster of the second game but instead, a collection of all three games is a pleasant surprise.
Mafia: Definitive Edition was the biggest leak to come out of this, serving as a complete remake of the 2002 PlayStation 2 and Xbox game. The leak, including screenshots and dates for both the first and second game, appears to have somewhat stemmed from a Microsoft Store listing. “Faithfully recreated, with expanded story, gameplay and original score. This is the Mafia you remembered and so much more,” the listing reads. Mafia: Definitive Edition will seemingly release August 28th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We’ve included the leaked images for you below.
Mafia II’s release date is a curious nature too. The leaked listing puts the game on May 20th, when the full and proper scheduled detailing of the trilogy is slated. Mafia III on the other hand, likely won’t see too much change if any, as the game released in 2016. Thankfully, May 20th’s real close and only then will we have confirmation just how true these leaks are. We’ll be sure to tune in and keep you updated on the news regarding that. Are you keen to jump back into the world of Mafia?
