After a long line of leaks, rumours and teases, Mafia: Trilogy has finally had its official details confirmed. The collection will contain the three franchise games from publisher 2K and what’s better yet: both Mafia II and III Definitive Edition, are available now, kicking off the exciting project.
Curiously, the release of the Trilogy will be released somewhat spaced out. Starting today, Mafia II and III Definitive Edition are available for purchase and download. Pre-order the whole trilogy digitally now and you’ll get access to these two games to tide you over before the package completes with the fully remade Mafia: Definitive Edition on August 28th. Gamers that already own Mafia III, an only four-year-old game are in for a treat too. Owners of the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam will receive a free upgrade to this definitive edition of the game. The new version, of course, offers the game and all original bonus add-on content. Meanwhile, as it was a last-gen game, Mafia II has been remastered in ultra-HD, with 4K compatible graphics.
Mafia: Trilogy lets you don a pinstripe suit and raise hell once more
As mentioned earlier, Mafia: Definitive Edition, will release on August 28th. This is undoubtedly the most exciting part of the trilogy. The original Mafia came out back in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. We’re getting to see this again for the first time since, with a full from the ground up remake. Updated scripts, new gameplay features and sequences are all expected. This release will close the trilogy, and mark the physical release of the collection.
Some extra goodies are available for those who purchase or pre-order the digital or physical version of the trilogy (or just Mafia: Definitive edition solely) too. You’ll get your hands on a pack known as “The Chicago Outfit,” which includes the following for use in Mafia: Definitive Edition:
- Player Outfit – The Don
- Vehicle – Smith V12 Limousine
- Weapon Skin – Gold Semi-Automatic.
It’s worth also noting that each of the games are available for purchase or order individually too on digital storefronts. This may well be an option for those that wanted to pick and choose certain titles. Are you keen to don a hat and be a mobster once more?
