Possibly the strangest reveal at Sony’s PlayStation 5 event this morning was Bugsnax. Picture this, a world filled with different insectoid critters who closely resemble different food items and if you eat them, you also take on properties of those food items. Seems completely normal.
Bugsnax is a whimsical and ludicrous game and I suppose you’d expect no less from Young Horses, the development studio behind Octodad: Dadliest Catch. The game seems to be part adventure and part collectathon as you roam around this magical world, hunting and collecting the 100 species of these bug-food hybrids, whilst solving the mysteries of the island.
Check out the trailer below.
According to the game’s website:
“Bugsnax takes you on a whimsical adventure to Snaktooth Island, home of the legendary half-bug half-snack creatures, Bugsnax. Invited by intrepid explorer Elizabert Megafig, you arrive to discover your host nowhere to be found, her camp in shambles, and her followers scattered across the island alone… and hungry!”
“It’s up to you to solve the mysteries of Snaktooth Island: What happened to Lizbert? What are Bugsnax and where do they come from? But most of all, why do they taste SO GOOD?”
Bugsnax certainly seems like the kind of game worth keeping an eye on. Thankfully it won’t be too long before we get to experience this bizzare adventure with the game coming to PS4, PS5 and PC via the Epic Game Store holiday this year.
