It’s safe to say Resident Evil fans have been spoiled lately. Resident Evil 2 Remake last year, or the more recent remake of the third game this year, have both come out in the last 18 months. Now, we have confirmation on what the next mainline series entry will be. Resident Evil Village is the new game, and it’s been confirmed for PlayStation 5 and other platforms in 2021.
As leaks and rumours have suggested over the past few months, it looks to have more of a supernatural approach. Cultist and Wiccan imagery are just some of the many teases you see present in the game. As the name suggests, it largely takes place in a village. Snow has plummeted and buried much of the environment around you, locals are on edge and nervous about threats that you don’t quite catch glimpses of. Also, is that Chris with an insanely lavish dad bod?
What we also know about the game is that it takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. First-person perspective has returned and we once again control Ethan. He’s settled down and relaxed once more with Mia. Naturally, that doesn’t last too long as Chris comes storming in, bringing forth a chain of events which see Ethan ending up in this mysterious village.
The trailer ends with a werewolf and then Chris shooting someone in the head that I sure hope isn’t Mia. Just what the hell is going on? I’m itching to find out more.
Resident Evil Village is the eight mainline game in the Resident Evil series and will release sometime in 2021, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
