Avowed, the new Obsidian RPG, shows the gloves are off as they go straight for Bethesda’s territory. The new game was announced in the early stretches of the morning during a packed Xbox Games Showcase.
Avowed’s trailer showcases a war torn fantasy realm called Eora, full of grand monuments, lush forests, and dark caverns. It ends with a first-person perspective Skyrim fans may find familiar. Is Obsidian about to recreate the Elder Scrolls formula much like they recreated the Fallout formula with The Outer Worlds? With no release date and not much besides the release trailer, only time will tell if Avowed is poised to be the Scrolls slayer it appears to be.
Either way, Obsidian has a fantastic track record with games. From the excellent New Vegas to the stellar Pillars of Eternity, it seems Obsidian has the Midas touch. Their latest game, The Outer Worlds, has proven to be a fan favorite, with a Metacritic score of 85, and was Checkpoint’s Game of the Year for 2019.
Avowed will be coming to Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 PC at a currently undisclosed date.
