BPM: Bullets Per Minute blasts in with a release date

The fast, frenzied rhythm shooter BPM: Bullets Per Minute will soon burst onto the scene with their newly-announced release date. The game made a splash in autumn when it was first revealed. Now developer Awe Interactive is back to help chase away those winter blues with a headbanging, foot-stomping, metal AF trailer to celebrate the September 15th release date.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute features fast-paced arcade shooter action all done to an awesome metal soundtrack. Every shot, jump, and dodge is set to the beat. The game features 5 different player characters, a rocking assortment of weapons, a variety of different abilities, and 8 bosses alongside a plethora of enemies to use them on. Every dungeon is randomly generated, so each playthrough will be a unique experience. It’s looking to be an action-packed experience full of features.

“There’s no doubt we were inspired by the retro shooters from when we were growing up when putting BPM: Bullets Per Minute together, but we think the game’s unashamed slave-to-the-rhythm ethic gives it a fresh feel and an added edge,” said Awe Interactive founder David Jones. “It’s that sweet spot between giving gamers a taste of the supreme shooters they loved when they were young, but also offering them something that genuinely pushes the boundaries of the genres the game straddles.”

The soundtrack is what will really pull the game together. Taking inspiration from Wagner, Muse, and Audioslave, the music differently gives the game a unique tone. The fact that every action is tied to the rhythm of these killer tracks certainly helps too. The game is happing up to be Doom meets Crypt of the Necrodancer; That’s a combo I can get behind. The game is set to launch on steam on September 15th with a PS4 and XB1 version soon to follow.
