Star Wars: Hunters comes to the Nintendo Switch in 2021

Posted on February 18, 2021

During the Nintendo Direct stream on 18 February 2021, an all-new Star Wars game was revealed. Star Wars: Hunters will release on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021.

Star Wars: Hunters is an “all-new squad-based, free-to-play arena combat game“. It is being developed by Zynga and Naturalmotion, two titan studios of the mobile games scene. Zynga is known for developing family-friendly and addicting apps like Farmville, Words with Friends, and Draw Something. Naturalmotion is the team behind the successful CSR Racing 2 and Dawn of Titans.

Not long ago, Zynga opened a new studio in Austin, Texas to begin work on a dedicated game in the Star Wars universe – this must be that game.

The teaser reveals the den of what seems to be an arena battle. Several characters, such as a Stormtrooper and a Wookie, pop-up in holograms. As the door to the arena opens, the sound and sight of blasters and lightsabers through a cloud of thick dust is seen.

From this video, it’s pretty clear this will be a hero shooter with a possible emphasis on buying or unlocking new characters. As the universe is already abundant with iconic characters, and as many other games have done before, Star Wars: Hunters is likely to be successful with fans looking to collect as many of their favourite characters as possible.
