Bramble: The Mountain King is a haunting Nordic game

Shown off during the IGN expo this morning was a rather disturbing trailer for a Nordic folklore game called Bramble: The Mountain King. Showcasing a young boy in a horrific world, Bramble looks every bit as eerie and curious as you may expect.

Some of the imagery within the trailer is genuinely quite haunting including one repeated scene of the boy stabbing something over and over again while his face gets bloodier and bloodier. There’s also some cool creature designs ripped from Nordic folklore including one water creature at the end of the trailer that may well keep me up at night. Check out the new trailer below.

Bramble: The Mountain King is coming to us from Dimfrost Studio. The game will play as a 2D platformer in the style of Limbo, although it will apparently feature David vs Goliath style boss battles. The story revolves around two siblings who explore a forest filled with strange creatures. After the sister gets taken by a troll, the boy will embark on a journey to get her back.

Bramble is set to release in 2022. The specific release platforms are yet to be known. You can check out the Steam page here.
