The Chant brings psychedelic action horror and spooky cults

Posted on June 11, 2021

The Chant was announced this morning from Prime Matter and Brass Token, and is set to keep things spooky in a third-person psychedelic action horror game.

In a unique horrific world, The Chant is set on the tormented grounds of a new age cult. The main character you play as is visiting a retreat at the request of an old friend; and of course, things are not what they seem. While exploring a remote island’s twisted past, you must fight and escape the psychedelic terrors awakened by this spiritual retreat gone wrong – which means taking on supernatural creatures, of course.

“We’re excited and honoured to be among the quality games being published under Koch Media’s New Label. Their passion for the project is inspiring, and having Koch’s global marketing and publishing expertise behind us means we can focus on our strengths to develop the best game possible.” said Mike Skupa, CEO and Creative Director at Brass Token.

While the game looks a little rough around the edges so far, the premise is certainly interesting, and horror is just as much about building the haunting atmosphere as it is about the gameplay and imagery. A sizzle reel for new publishing arm Prime Matter was shown off during the Summer Games Fest Kickoff this morning, with a longer trailer set to be revealed tomorrow at 5am during Koch Media’s presentation.

We’ll find out next year how  this one plays out, as The Chant will release sometime in 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, X Box Series X|S and PC,
