E3 for 2021 has come and gone. In the weeks leading up to the June event, rumours started an outpouring of some tantalising projects that gigantic publisher Take-Two had in the works. Perhaps the largest one that was soon after confirmed across many of E3’s events was the Borderlands project Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Many of the other rumoured games shockingly weren’t present at the conference at the publisher’s conference at all. It seems now at least one of them is ready to be shown. Take-Two have announced that an “exciting new franchise” will be revealed later this month.
The fresh news (sighted by VGC) comes from Take-Two’s Q1 2022 earning’s call. It seems to also match these earlier leaks, confirmed by Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubb. Largely, it points to two possibilities: Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13’s “Cthulu meets Saints Row” project or an Avengers project crafted with an XCOM-style tactics formula. Whatever it is, it’s said to release by the end of America’s current financial year (ending March 2022). Frankly, either option sounds entirely promising and enticing.
Where can we expect to see the reveal? Gamescom’s opening ceremony is set to kick off later this month and timing-wise, it’s the best bet. Beginning August 26th for us Aussies and running through till the 28th, you may want to keep your eyes peeled for that hot announcement.
