Far Cry 6 is almost upon us: it’s releasing next month, at which point we’ll dive into the explosive world of Yara with all the blood, sweat, and tears Ubisoft has promised its latest title will bring. In a new video, Ubisoft has revealed its plans for a ton of post-launch content, including both free content and a paid season pass. First up and most interesting are the several free ‘crossover missions’, which are campaigns that partner Dani up with other characters and franchises, namely Rambo, Stranger Things, and an adventure with Danny Trejo (Machete).
All three crossover missions will be playable in single-player or co-op mode, meaning you can fly solo or bring a friend along. In ‘Danny & Dani vs. Everbody’, the two must travel across Yara delivering tacos, apparently, although judging by the copious amount of gunfire and explosions in the trailer, it may not be quite that simple. Then, in ‘Rambo: All the Blood’, Dani teams up with a Rambo impersonator to take on the Yaran military in the style of an ’80s action blockbuster’. Finally, in ‘The Vanishing’, your adorable sausage dog Chorizo has disappeared under strange circumstances. This is the crossover with Stranger Things, so even though very little is shown about this side story, we can be sure it’ll take a supernatural turn.
These three crossover stories will be released over the next year, according to Ubisoft, although we haven’t been given any firm dates yet. Also included in the upcoming free content are Special Operations, which are new extraction-based missions that challenge the player to steal chemical weapons from the military and escape with them before the weapon becomes too unstable, and Weekly Insurgencies. Every week a new target will appear somewhere on Yara. Defeating them will earn the player gear upgrades.
The content included in the Season Pass (which is included in Far Cry 6’s Gold, Ultimate, and Collector Editions), will be released over the next year, with the first one available in November. These episodes will have you play as the series most iconic villains, Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min, and Joseph Seed.
Far Cry 6 is out October 7th, on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Check out our hands-on preview on the game here!
