Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach arrives this year

Posted on October 28, 2021

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a true indie success story. Mostly developed by a one-man studio, the series has spawned numerous entries and spin-offs into the franchise and kicked off a wave of horror-inspired games. A new trailer revealed during Sony’s State of Play gives us an exciting glimpse of the latest FNAF entry, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

The latest entry into the series is set to provide a departure from the usual FNAF gameplay scenario of viewing the creepy hallways and vents through camera systems. Instead Security Breach puts players in a first-person perspective as Gregory, a boy who gets trapped inside the massive Pizzaplex full of animatronic figures all hunting you down. The atmosphere looks tense, with the trailer proving the series still has some thrills and new ideas up its sleeve.

The reveal trailer gives us a pretty good look at what we can expect from this FNAF entry, trying to evade the bloodthirsty robots with little more than a flashlight and a few places to hide. There are a couple of other tools detailed in the PlayStation Blog such as the Faz Cam and Fazblaster, which can be used to stun your pursuers momentarily. Another unique change to the series sees Freddy Fazbear himself helping players, acting as somewhat of a helping hand throughout the game. A notable part in the trailer even shows Gregory climbing inside of the Fazbear suit to get around undetected, although this looks to be a temporary solution that will require the suit to be recharged after some time.

Sony also hints are some other interesting features within the game, including “unique office escape games, boss battles, more enemy types, and even fully playable arcades hidden throughout the Pizzaplex”. No doubt that this will prove to be another terrifying entry into the series, a shame that it missed the opportune Halloween window.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach will launch on both PS4 and PS5, along with Windows on December 16th 2021. Plenty of time to stock up on extra pairs of pants; it looks like we will need them.
