During the recent Nintendo Direct – which had no shortage of mouth-watering announcements – Fire Emblem fans got a nice surprise with the announcement of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a sequel to 2017’s Fire Emblem Warriors.
Whilst this may not be a sequel to the fantastic and more strategic Three Houses that many would have hoped to have seen, it is nonetheless another entry into the much-loved franchise that should provide an epic and sweeping storyline filled with the charm we have come to love from the series.
For the uninitiated, these types of action games are based on the popular Dynasty Warriors model of having an unfathomable amount of enemies on screen to slice and dice your way through, which even has its own genre named after it – Musou. The previous entry into this was generally well-received but drew some criticism for the lack of tactical elements that Fire Emblem is more known for.
We don’t know too much about the title yet, but if the trailer is anything to go by we are set for a bombastic adventure with plenty of enemies to launch flashy attacks at, with the ones shown off looking quite impressive. The current story details are light but the official synopsis describes the title as, “Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and other Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters return to put their combat expertise on display as you revisit a war-torn Fódlan.”
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is set to release on the June 24th this year for the Nintendo Switch, another game to add to the “want to buy” list in an already stacked year.
