A surprise Nintendo Direct in early February 2022 revealed some outstanding Mario Kart 8 Deluxe content. The Direct had some pretty big announcements for games coming to the Nintendo Switch system, but unfortunately no announcement of Mario Kart 9. However, the beefiness of this pack downloadable content and season pass pack should be enough to re-engage players—a whopping 48 remastered tracks from Mario Kart’s 30-year history will be released in waves over the next two years.
The rollout will be in eight waves from now until the end of 2023, with eight courses being released each time. The presentation showed a couple of the tracks coming to the pack, including Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii, Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour, and Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64. These tracks will be included in the first wave which is coming on 18 March 2022. The full list of tracks for Wave 1 are:
Golden Dash Cup
- Paris Promenade (Tour)
- Toad Circuit (3DS)
- Choco Mountain (N64)
- Coconut Mall (Wii)
Lucky Cat Cup
- Tokyo Blur (Tour)
- Shroom Ridge (3DS)
- Sky Garden (GBA)
- Ninja Hideaway (Tour)
You can purchase the DLC titled Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Pass via the Nintendo eShop, if you are a member of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass, the Booster Pass will be included with your membership. If you need to purchase DLC separately it will come in around $24.99
