Sydney developer Curtis Campion has just released a remake of his award-winning 2018 title Newfound Courage. Coming to Xbox for the first time, this narrative action-adventure game tells the story of a gay man named Alex who falls in love with his best friend Jake as he unravels the mysteries of a bizarre town and its history.
Winner of Rainbo Press’s 2018 Queer Game of the Year and shortlisted by Melbourne Queer Games Festival two years in a row, Newfound Courage has gone down as a fantastic indie title showcasing much-needed queer representation. The game’s remake has just been released in time for Pride month after two years of development. The remake features new art, music, story content, and “mechanics to immerse you in Alex and Jake’s story like never before”.
In a press release sent to Checkpoint Gaming, developer Campion states:
“New mechanics have been added, primarily combat mechanics. We created a simple, streamlined combat and progression system so we could go even bigger with our fantasy story… Everything about Newfound Courage is grander, the stakes are higher, and battling the ‘big bad’ to the death offers more satisfaction.”
Also available with the game’s remake on Xbox is a new DLC titled Return to Otherwhere that continues Alex’s story. With new characters, locations, and extra music tracks, this will be a real treat for fans of the original game who are keen to see more.
For owners of the original Newfound Courage, the remake will arrive as a free update to your game. Available now, you can find Newfound Courage on both Xbox and Steam.
