Brace Yourself Games have announced their next title in the NecroDancer universe. Rift of the NecroDancer is a lane based rhythm game inspired by Guitar Hero / Rhythm Heaven, but with a clear Necrodancer spin. The reveal trailer (below) shows the standalone game including boss fights, minigames, and more traditional timing-based rhythm segments as foes move towards you in one of three lanes. The difference here is that those enemies may move across lanes on the song’s beat or get pushed back after being hit.
Rift of the NecroDancer is coming to us from the Cadence of Hyrule and Crypt of the NecroDancer developer. Legendary composer Danny Baranowsky is back to lend his musical talents to the game’s soundtracks. In fact, you can already hear his past work in the game’s trailer.
Revisiting the Necrodancer universe looks like a blast as protagonist Cadence repairs rifts whilst navigating the modern world. Brace Yourself Games have so far gone from rhythm game hit to rhythm game hit, so it’ll be fun to get our hands on this next project. No release date is currently set, though you can find the title on Steam now.
