As part of the Tokyo Game Show Xbox Stream, it’s been announced that DEATHLOOP is coming to Xbox next week, and of course hitting Xbox Game Pass the same day. Stealth assassination fans will get to play the title on the service from September 20th.
DEATHLOOP, from the talented folk at Arkane Lyon, is a compelling assassination game where you have to defeat seven Visionaries in a single day, using a clever time loop mechanic. DEATHLOOP was under a one-year exclusivity deal with PlayStation that finished this week, so it’s no surprise that the Bethesda published title (now under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella) is coming to Xbox Game Pass for more people to experience it.
The Xbox release of DEATHLOOP comes with all updates released for the game since its launch last year, which includes photomode, additional accessibility options, cross-play matchmaking, and a host of quality-of-life fixes. On top of that, Arkane Lyon is also releasing the GOLDENLOOP Update on the same day, which brings a new weapon, a powerful new ability, new enemy types, an extended ending, and more.
The critically acclaimed game featured heavily in many “Game of the Year” lists, including our very own where we ranked it #2 for 2021. In our review, we said “DEATHLOOP is a cathartic blend of stealth, gunplay and powers that culminate in a satisfying gameplay loop as you explore the eccentric island of Blackreef. Whilst the narrative payoffs don’t always live up to the intriguing premise, there’s an undeniable sense of style and substance that help carry the game into really favourable territory. Knowledge really is power in DEATHLOOP and there’s a pleasurable novelty to much of the game’s design that allows it to feel engaging even when the player’s hand is held a little too tightly. Even within a year of time loop releases, DEATHLOOP stands out as its own unique beast worth experiencing.”
DEATHLOOP is heading to Xbox and Xbox Game Pass on September 20.
