Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is series’ big return

Posted on December 9, 2022

It was an incredibly news-filled day today with the 2022 Game Awards. From Software’s Elden Ring took away the big crowning prize of the day, winning the Game of the Year category. However, that wasn’t all that came from the studio. Finally, the Armored Core series is set to be returning with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Check out the official reveal trailer below.

Armored Core is a longstanding mech series from From Software that started all the way back in 1997. Certainly serving as a cult hit for the studio, fans haven’t seen an entry in the franchise since Armored Core: Verdict Day, a standalone expansion to Armored Core V. That was way back in 2013.

It’s at least a little understandable that we haven’t seen a series entry since then. The Soulsborne genre, something From Software themselves created from Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, continuing that gameplay through to Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring, is where the company have grown their audience. Still, it’s undoubtedly an exciting time for fans as the trailer depicts an apocalyptic world with riotous mech-suit designs.

The fantastic news is that Armored Core and From Software fans alike won’t have to wait too long on this one. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is slated to release in 2023 for PC along with PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
