A surprise reveal has come about today as Ghost Ship Games announced one of the first titles for its new publishing division. The new game is Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, utilising the beloved Deep Rock Galactic IP which officially kicked off in 2020 after a period of Early Access development. Deep Rock Galactic was a 4-player cooperative experience where you’d mine to uncover resources and gems whilst fighting off against enemy threats. In our review of Deep Rock Galactic, we called it ” a cavalcade of Dwarven comradery” and said it “sets a high bar for what a cooperative gaming experience should be”.
Combining the Deep Rock Galactic IP and aesthetic with the more recent indie success story of Vampire Survivors, this new title could prove to be the best of both worlds. Check out the announcement trailer below.
“Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a single player survivor-like auto-shooter. Wield the full arsenal of Deep Rock Galactic, take on hordes of lethal aliens, mine riches, and unlock powerful upgrades. It’s one dwarf against all of Planet Hoxxes!”
The game itself isn’t being developed by Ghost Ship Games but instead by Denmark-based Funday Games in collaboration with Ghost Ship Publishing. Removing the cooperative aspects of the original Deep Rock Galactic, this new title instead seems to focus on the overwhelming threat of the world you find yourself in alone, as well as the enticing auto-battling mechanics found in Vampire Survivors and the recent genre boom.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is set to release towards the end of 2023. You can check the title out on Steam now.
