Shown off as part of the Ubisoft Forward presentation this morning, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was a highlight of the event, with some gameplay and a release date. The first-person action adventure title will be releasing on December 7, just sneaking in to 2023.
Gameplay showed a style of open world that reminded me straight away of Far Cry, but with an Avatar twist. You’ll be using your Na’Vi powers but have human weaponry at your disposal as well, like assault rifles and rocket launchers. Check it out.
According to filmmaker James Cameron the game’s story “co-exists” with that of the films. It was also mentioned that the entire campaign can be played with a friend in two player co-op. A variety of different mounts were shown off, including flying ones that can take part in air combat in order to take out flying enemies.
Overall, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks pretty impressive so far; while it doesn’t look to be a super original take on open world games, it seems to be taking the Avatar property and making it into a fun adventure.
We’ll see how it all pans out when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launches on December 7 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
