Helskate brings Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater to hell

A new twist on skateboarding caught our attention at the Day of the Devs as part of Summer Games Fest 2023, Helskate, is a demonic skate-action game.

Set in the underworld, Helskate offers a refreshing take on skateboarding. It offers a unique blend of rural skateboarding and supernatural combat elements, chaining your combos in with attacks against enemies. With a distinct comic book aesthetic and an incredible soundtrack, the game oozes attitude.

The influence of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series is clear in Helskate, with players being able to tackle half pipes with a satisfying sense of weight. Helskate was conceived from the mind of one of the developers from Tony Hawk’s Underground. As the 2003 game was being developed, they noticed the role-playing elements of upgrading stats and the potential for melding fantasy with skating. Now, we are graced with a wonderful combination of both.
