Guerrilla Games has added a nice tribute into Horizon Forbidden West for Lance Reddick, the actor who portrayed the recurring character Sylens in the series who suddenly passed away in March of this year. The new monument to Reddick can be found in an area introduced in the Burning Shores expansion.
In honor of Lance Reddick, we created a memorial to commemorate the profound impact he had on us all.
Thank you, Lance, for everything you brought to the role of Sylens: your gravitas, energy, wisdom and more. An incomparable talent and friend. We miss you terribly. pic.twitter.com/PXiba7H3SR

In a tweet announcing the tribute, Geurila Games states “In honor of Lance Reddick, we created a memorial to commemorate the profound impact he had on us all. Thank you, Lance, for everything you brought to the role of Sylens: your gravitas, energy, wisdom and more. An incomparable talent and friend. We miss you terribly.“
The monument to Reddick can be found on the first island introduced in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, near where Aloy meets the expansion’s main supporting character Seyka. Reddick passed away too close to the expansion’s release for any major tributes to be included, aside from a touching dedication in the end credits.
Horizon Forbidden West and its expansion appear to be positioning Sylens as a more active participant in future games in the series. As such, considering his portrayer’s tragic passing, it is unclear whether the developers plan on recasting the role, or retiring the character out of respect and continuing the series without him. Whichever way Guerilla Games proceeds, the series won’t be the same without Lance Reddick.
