Aspyr’s port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords has been out on the Nintendo Switch for nearly a year. In that time, fans have been awaiting Aspyr to release the free Restored Cut DLC to the Switch port, which it promised to do when the port was announced. Unfortunately, Aspyr has now acknowledged that work on the DLC has been cancelled. As compensation, the company has offered free games to those who have purchased the Switch port of KOTOR II.
For context, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was a somewhat cut-down release when it first came out in 2004. It arrived missing many gameplay and story features which had planned to be implemented. In the years following, modders eventually developed the Restored Cut DLC, which more or less patched in much of the content which had been previously left on the cutting room floor. When KOTOR II came out on June 6th 2022 on Nintendo Switch, Aspyr promised that the Restored Cut DLC, previously exclusive to the PC version of the game, would be added to the Switch port as free DLC at some point post-release.

Now, Aspyr has acknowledged that KOTOR II on the Switch will not receive any DLC. “Sadly, today we are announcing that the Restored Content DLC for the Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords will not be moving forward for release.” the team posted on Twitter.
As compensation for players who might have bought the Switch port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II with the expectation of it receiving this DLC at some point, Aspyr has offered a complementary Star Wars game on the Switch, or the PC version of KOTOR II. This is not only Star Wars project to go awry at Aspyr, after being reportedly taken off development duties on the troubled Knights of the Old Republic remake.
This is a shame for anyone who bought KOTOR II on the Switch, hoping for the game to receive all its promised content. For those who did buy it and would like to redeem a complementary Star Wars game offered by Aspyr, they can submit their proof of purchase at support.aspyr.com.
