SEGA announces not one, but over five remasters of classic titles

Posted on December 8, 2023

Today’s Game Awards was massive! Not only did we see some great ‘world exclusives’, but we also saw some fantastic games take home well-deserved awards. 2023 has been a fantastic year in gaming. The future for video games looks bright, especially with the announcement SEGA dropped at the show. In what’s been called the Power Surge, SEGA has announced some much-beloved titles are getting the remaster treatment. Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, plus many more!

It’s a short trailer but action-packed and full of some gorgeous games. The trailer itself is somewhat silly, as two friends play games together before certain items in the apartment disappear. And then a total power outage. It isn’t until we see an old arcade machine lit up do we find the culprit. We get quick shots of the gorgeous and vibrant stylings of Jet Set Radio, the dirty neon atmosphere of Streets of Rage, the 2D side-scrolling epic of Shinobi, the barbaric and cold world of Golden Axe, and the energetic and chaotic Crazy Taxi. The trailer then lets us know that there is more to come.

While all of these games are currently in development, SEGA has a newsletter you can sign up for so you can get the latest details on each game. This is huge for fans of the series, especially considering most of these are dormant titles. Not only that, but remasters brings new fans of the games.

Are you excited about what SEGA will announce next? Already eager for one of the titles? Let us know!
