A long-rumoured Halo Battle Royale game in the works from Halo support studio Certain Affinity has been reportedly cancelled. The game was allegedly in the works for some years with a sizeable staff and resources dedicated to the project, but according to a report from the Xbox Era podcast, that project is no longer going to be released.
The two podcast hosts, Jon Clarke and insider Shpeshal_Nick, claimed the game, codenamed Tatanka, was no longer. “I got the DM about it last week,” says Nick, “That Tatanka’s been cancelled.”
Developer Certain Affinity had most recently assisted 343 Industries with the development of Halo Infinite. Whilst there’s no official confirmation of the project, if insider information is to be believed, it would mean Certain Affinity had been working on the game for over 2 years since Infinite’s launch.
Of course, everything at this stage is still rumours and speculation. Without official confirmation from Microsoft, we can only imagine what a potential Halo Battle Royale may have looked like or whether one will ever actually exist.
