They may have only just nabbed their many Game Awards for Baldur’s Gate 3, but developer Larian Studios is already looking to what’s new. In a series of tweets, Larian boss Swen Vincke thinks they’ve got act one of their next game mapped out after just four months of writing.
“Been a great morning! After 4 months of rewriting and rewriting and abandoning ideas and then revisiting them, finally figured out what act 1 on this thing I’ve been working on needs to be. Quote me when it’s revealed to see how much of today’s draft survives. I suspect a lot,” Vincke begins.
The big caveat is that obviously this is very early days and we don’t yet know what this project is or will look like. Given Larian Studios’ history of tackling RPGs, that’s the safest bet, but that could take many different forms. A Divinity: Original Sin 3 is certainly on the cards but as per an interview with IGN, that’s not before a well-earned break. Perhaps then this means new IP for the studio? The sky’s the limit.
The thread is certainly an interesting read, with Swen even admitting that no one else on the Larian Studios team has even seen the draft yet and could be highly subject to change if they don’t like it. What exactly Larian Studios’ next project is, we don’t yet know. What we do know is us here on the team will be waiting with bated breath.
