Stardew Valley is one of those games that will simply never fall out of the public consciousness and it’s not just because it’s an incredible title that helped to define a genre. It’s also because of the tireless effort of the game’s solo developer, Concerned Ape, who today has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the game’s 8th anniversary and share some new details on update 1.6 for PC. The big news here is that we won’t have long to wait with 1.6 arriving on March 19th to PC, with console and mobile versions to follow as soon as possible.

Stardew Valley 1.6 will bring about a set of new features that were originally teased by Concerned Ape back in September of 2023. These include but may not be limited to:
- A new major festival
- Two new mini-festivals
- New late-game content, which expands on each of the skill areas
- New items and crafting recipes
- Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests
- 100+ new lines of dialogue
- Winter outfits for the villagers
- New type of reward for completing billboard requests
- (PC support for 8-player multiplayer
- Many small additions and adjustments
- New farm type
- New secrets and more
Personally, any excuse to jump back into Stardew Valley is one I’ll take, and being able to celebrate it’s 8th anniversary just makes it all the sweeter. Concerned Ape finished up by thanking the fans and reflecting on the success of the IP.
“With a new update on the horizon, a worldwide concert tour underway, an official cookbook coming soon, and now over 30 million copies sold, Stardew Valley is thriving more than ever. As always, I’m eternally grateful to the players (you!) for making all of this possible.”
