Ubisoft has announced that its recent Metroidvania platformer, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, will be getting additional content later this year. The DLC will feature new game modes, cosmetic options and story content, although not all of it will be free.
According to Ubisoft’s announcement on its website, the rollout of post-launch support will commence from March 20th 2023 with a free update adding in a Speedrun Mode, Permadeath Mode and a new costume for Sargon. Later updates throughout the year will introduce a Boss Rush mode and Divine Trials, containing new combat, platforming and puzzle challenges. Players can also expect even more outfits for Sargon and Amulets to be made available during these updates. Finally, the game will also get its first piece of major paid DLC later this year, which will include additional story content.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was very warmly received when it released at the beginning of the year, and many fans have been clamouring for additional content. New free cosmetic options and gameplay features are always a nice inclusion. Speedrun and Permadeath modes in particular are common self-imposed challenges for fans of Metroidvania platformers such as this. As such, it is expected that those modes will be particularly welcomed by gamers seeking new ways to play. More details are yet to be announced regarding many of these content releases, particularly the premium story DLC announced for later in 2024.
