Can you remember the last time you brought home a new game from the store only to find out it had to be squeezed onto multiple discs? We’re clearly not past this trend as it looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox will be stretched across a whopping 4 discs! The massive RPG from Larian Studios that swept Game of the Year categories last year is sticking around to take up more space, this time in a physical sense. Larian’s Director of Publishing took to X (formerly Twitter) to make the reveal, saying the game’s file size was only just beyond the requirements of 3 discs, meaning they’d have to either opt for the 4 or cut content. I think they made the correct choice.
The Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will indeed have 4 discs, since we’re 500mb over the limit for 3. Only option would have been to cut some content out but that didn’t make sense, so confirming 4. Updating here: https://t.co/xUoKLALyqr https://t.co/A2QQ3lI7y9

It’s interesting that the Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will take up so much space, because despite the fact that we know it’s a massive game, the title did manage to squeeze onto 2 discs for the PlayStation retail version. This sparks a lot of questions over the different requirements for PlayStation and Xbox, with many theories being raised but nothing ultimately being confirmed yet from any official sources.
In addition to the 4 disc news, it does also look like release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on physical Xbox will get a small delay, from March 25 to the first week of April. Are you hungry to check out this launch on Xbox, 4 discs and all?
