Blizzard Entertainment has announced the launch of Season 4: Loot Reborn for Diablo IV, heralding a monumental overhaul. Scheduled for release on 15 May 2024, this update introduces sweeping changes to the game’s itemisation system, along with new experiences for us venturing into the depths of Hell.
Season 4 marks a significant departure from previous updates by extending changes to both the Seasonal Realm and the Eternal Realm. Central to the update are transformative revisions to items and customisation promising to be more straightforward.
The Diablo IV Season 4: Loot Reborn update includes:
- Itemisation updates: Reduces base affixes and streamlines their effects, making items easier to assess and customise to suit specific playstyles.
- Tempering: Customise gear by selecting affixes from a range of recipes, enhancing your equipment’s capabilities and tailoring to preferences.
- Codex of Power: Legendary items now automatically add their attributes to the Codex of Power, eliminating the need for aspect crystals and facilitating continuous improvement of your gear.
- Greater Affixes: Rare affixes, known as Greater Affixes, offer more substantial bonuses and can be found on Ancestral drops in World Tier 4.
- Masterworking: Once you have assembled ideal gear, you can further enhance affixes to maximise effectiveness, culminating in the ultimate challenge: The Pit.
- Helltides: Season 4 introduces a revamped Helltide experience, featuring new activities and enemies, including the Hellborn, former heroes turned demon allies.
- Accursed Rituals: Engage in rituals to summon demons for intense battles, culminating in encounters with the fearsome Blood Maiden.
- Iron Wolves: Join forces with the Iron Wolves, mercenaries dedicated to combating the forces of Hell, and unlock exclusive rewards by participating in seasonal activities.
In addition, Season 4 introduces a wealth of new content, including the Pit of Artificers—a harrowing dungeon filled with deadly foes and lucrative rewards—and the return of iconic bosses like Andariel, now more challenging than ever as Tormented Echoes.
You can also earn rewards through the Season Journey and Battle Pass, featuring new armour sets, mounts, and other cosmetic items. Tejal’s Shop offers a range of stylish equipment bundles, allowing you to showcase your prowess in battle with flair.
The Blizzard team have released a blog post on all the nitty-gritty details of the upcoming update. For the diehard Diablo IV fans, you’ll want to check this out to prepare your builds and strategy for the coming season.
While the previous Season of the Construct launched to middling reception from the community, it seems like the developers are listening to feedback about items. This might not be as narratively focused as previous seasons since launch (particularly the amazing Season of Blood), but should hopefully be a step in the right direction in maintaining relevancy and a consistent player base.
Diablo IV Season 4: Loot Reborn promises to galvanise us as we continue our adventures, starting 15 May 2024.
