Creators of the hit multiplayer shooter Splitgate have sent shockwaves through the gaming community with their latest announcement. In an email blast to fans, 1047 Games unveiled a cryptic video titled “Say Goodbye to Splitgate,” offering a glimpse into what appears to be the future.

The 47-second teaser takes viewers on a journey through a museum of Splitgate history, a setting unlike anything seen before in the expansive universe of Sol. As the player traverses the halls adorned with memories from the game’s storied past, speculation runs rampant about what this glimpse into the future may entail.

Accompanying the video, the developers provided a message: “SEE THE VIDEO EVERY SPLITGATE FAN IS TALKING ABOUT. Take a walk through Splitgate history in a museum unlike any other in all of Sol. What does it mean? We’ll leave that up to you to figure out for now.”

The footage has sparked a flurry of excitement and speculation among the Splitgate community, with many speculating that this could be our first glimpse of Splitgate 2. Observant fans have noted the unmistakable improvements in graphics quality, hinting at a significant upgrade from the original game. Others have suggested the possibility of a single-player campaign being introduced.

However, not all reactions have been without reservation. Some long-time players have expressed concerns about the evolving nature of the Splitgate community, which has garnered a reputation for its intensely competitive and “sweaty” gameplay experience. Nevertheless, the announcement has reignited diehard fans who have been with Splitgate since its beta days in 2019.

Amidst the flurry of speculation, rumours had circulated that servers for the original Splitgate might be shutting down. However, it is clear that the video serves as a sendoff to the first game while teasing the successor. Servers for Splitgate will remain online for the foreseeable future.

With the promise of the new Portal meets Halo action on the horizon, one thing is certain: the future of Splitgate has never looked brighter. More information to come on the game’s website.
