Announced during Ubisoft Forward, Anno 117: Pax Romana is the latest entry in the acclaimed period strategy series from Ubisoft Blue Byte. Tasking players with governing the Roman Empire during the early second century AD, this upcoming title features city-building, economic management, diplomacy, and combat within the many city-states of the infamous empire. A tongue-in-cheek live action teaser delivered the news of the game’s development, depicting a would-be Roman governor delivering a rousing speech to an empty paddock.
This is the first title in the Anno series since 2019’s Anno 1800, which was critically lauded for its addictive city-building and comprehensive economic management systems. While the franchise has dabbled in sci-fi settings in the past, its roots are firmly planted in historical fiction (established by the 1998 original Anno 1602, which took place in New World America).
In addition to the teaser trailer, Ubisoft have confirmed that developers at Blue Byte will be hosting a livestream on Twitch on June 18th, which promises to shed more light on this upcoming strategy title.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is set to release in 2025 for PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
