Assassin’s Creed Shadows debuts samurai gameplay

With Summer Game Fest in full swing, Ubisoft hosted its annual big showcase and it sure delivered the goods. The Ubisoft Forward officially revealed gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows after dropping the cinematic trailer almost a month ago.

Despite a cheeky tease at the main Summer Game Fest presentation, the presentation revealed much more about the latest Assassin’s Creed game and it already sounds like an epic return to form for the series.

After an epic live performance on the Ubisoft Forward stage, Shadows game director, Charles Benoit, set the scene for the franchise’s long-awaited Feudal Japan installment. Teasing dynamic weather and gameplay ripe with possibilities in this new setting is really exciting!

Seeing the difference in Naoe and Yasuke’s style of gameplay puts their respective shinobi and samurai skills on display. Given that I’ve always had an affinity for the series, it’s impressive seeing Ubisoft push the envelope on the dual protagonist’s respective styles rather than shoveling two characters into one.
