Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 shows off Zombies Mode and characters

Posted on August 11, 2024

Screaming undead with an odd obsession with your good friend “Sam” are breaking down boarded windows to bring us a refreshed Zombies experience in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Treyarch Studios has dropped a reveal for the much-anticipated mode, promising to climb new heights.

Fans of the series will be thrilled to know that round-based Zombies action is making a comeback, allowing teams of one to four players to face off against relentless hordes of the undead. With the ability to squad up and fight through increasingly challenging waves, the intense, cooperative gameplay players have come to love is back after a poorly received version from last year.

The action kicks off with two launch maps: Terminus and Liberty Falls. Terminus, set in the turbulent waters of the Philippine Sea, promises a maritime adventure fraught with danger, while Liberty Falls, nestled in the eerie landscapes of West Virginia, offers a haunting atmosphere.

Treyarch is raising the stakes by introducing a more challenging Main Quest experience, but they’re also catering to newcomers with an all-new Guided Mode. This mode, set to be released in-season after each map’s launch, is designed to welcome more players into the world of Zombies by providing a more accessible entry point. Players can also expect to see the return of fan-favourite features like GobbleGums, deep weapon customisation, and global progression, ensuring that each match is packed with variety and replayability.

A new feature called Omnimovement is set to change gameplay across all Black Ops 6 modes, allowing players to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. For the first time in Zombies, players can also switch to a third-person perspective and customise their HUD elements, such as enemy health bars and damage numbers.

As part of the ongoing Dark Aether storyline, the Terminus team takes centre stage in one of the two launch maps. This diverse group of characters includes familiar faces like Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, and William Peck, alongside newcomers Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Oskar Strauss, and Maya Aguinaldo, making her debut in the Call of Duty franchise.
