Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts bring you to a world where you and your partner will enter a world where two genres of fiction collide. Split Fiction is the studio’s next big title, and just like It Takes Two, it’s a split co-op game. But this time, you and a friend will explore different worlds in the sci-fi and fantasy genre. An official trailer and gameplay preview was showcased at the Game Awards, teasing fans about what to expect once the game comes out next year.

The trailer features aspiring writers, Mio and Zoe. Thanks to advanced simulation technologies, they’re brought to a world where their stories come to life. But unfortunately, they accidentally wind up in the same simulation, with their stories at risk of being stolen. In this game, players will get the chance to explore two different genres at once. Whether it’s exploring a thrilling sci-fi world with cyberpunk aesthetics entering a fantasy world with dragons, mythical creatures, or playing as pigs, anything is possible. Hazelight Studios is known for its 2021 co-op game, It Takes Two. This award-winning game is an action-adventure game that features a married couple who’s planning on getting a divorce. The couple then find themselves trapped in dolls that their daughter made that look exactly like them. In order to return to their regular bodies, they go through a series of challenges in hopes to fix their marriage. The game received a high Metacritic score of 89/100 and won Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards. In addition to its success, it was reported that the game would be turned into a movie with Dwayne Johnson as a producer. Split Fiction was first teased back in October by Hazelight Studio’s Founder, Josef Fares on Twitter/X, and before the Game Award announcement, the title was leaked online.

Split Fiction will come out on March 6, 2025, and will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
