Do you remember 2014? The world wasn’t as on fire, global pandemics were a thing of the past, and Dark Souls II dropped. Wake up, ’cause it’s 2024 and the devs behind The Talos Principle are coming back after their highly reviewed The Talos Principle 2 to announce a remake of the first game, The Talos Principle: Reawakened.
However, it’s noted that Reawakened is ‘more than a remaster’, which is pretty apt to say. Croteam has overhauled the puzzle game with some down-right gorgeous graphics and Quality of Life features that fans of the series are itching to see. Included in this new edition is a new chapter that “delves deeper” into the narrative, fleshing out the universe.
The Talos Principle has you play as an unknown android, where ancient ruins and advanced technology coexist. You’re tasked with solving interesting puzzles that become more complex as you go on. As you continue with these puzzles, you come to more thought-provoking philosophical ideas, like ever wondering why we’re here. Are you a thinking thing? Or is this all just an imitation game?
Croteam has rebuilt The Talos Principle with Unreal Engine 5, making it much more detailed and atmospheric due to the enhanced lighting, textures and environmental design. Quality of Life features have been added, like a hint and rewind system. Included in this edition is The Road to Gehenna DLC, and the new chapter as well that explores the origins of the simulation. Lastly, a puzzle editor for modders and players alike! The tool will allow those to build their own puzzles, creating and fostering “creativity and ensuring a thriving future for The Talos Principle”.
This will be such an amazing update to an already groundbreaking and award-winning game. Fans will be gobbling this up, for sure! While there isn’t a specific release date, the only thing we know is that The Talos Principle: Reawakened is coming out in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S|X.
