LEGO and Nintendo tease the LEGO Game Boy, launching October 2025

Posted on January 10, 2025

LEGO has announced its next iconic partnership with Nintendo: the LEGO Game Boy! This latest addition to LEGO’s Nintendo lineup will launch in October 2025, and we’re already buzzing with anticipation after the announcement hit social media earlier today.

The teaser video shows close-ups of what can be assumed pieces of the LEGO Game Boy. We see a LEGO directional pad and A and B buttons in the iconic purple. Details like price, size, overall look and function aren’t known just yet.

This partnership continues a growing trend of LEGO celebrating gaming history. Previous collaborations with Nintendo brought fans the interactive LEGO Super Mario series, a buildable LEGO NES with a working crank display screen to play a recreation of the Super Mario Bros. game. The LEGO Game Boy takes things further by celebrating the iconic handheld console that defined portable gaming in the ’90s.

LEGO Game Boy coming October 2025

First released in 1989, the Game Boy revolutionised how we played games on the go, introducing titles like Tetris, Pokémon, and Kirby’s Dream Land. For many, it was the start of a lifelong love for gaming and LEGO aims to capture that nostalgia brick by brick.

The LEGO Game Boy is set to hit shelves in October 2025. Whether you’re a die-hard Nintendo fan, a LEGO aficionado, or just someone who misses the days of 8-bit gaming under the covers with a worm light, this set promises to be a must-have.
