The recent PlayStation State of Play debuted a new Digimon RPG game that brings in monster taming. Digimon Story Time Stranger continues to explore the bonds between humans and Digimon as you attempt to learn why the world has collapsed.
Your adventure will bring you across several alternate dimensions and time periods, crossing paths with several Digimon and antagonists. Bolster your team with your new Digimon friends to ensure you are ready to take on the looming danger.
You journey across several realms like a forest, an aquatic location, and a modern construction tower. Each environment’s detail is carefully crafted and you can appreciate the immersive nature of the locations. Your character is also seen riding a Garurumon, potentially opening up exploration options with different Digimon. Bringing Digimon into your team is a key part of every Digimon game and you have a great variety to choose from.
The entire Greymon line from Rookie to Mega is shown, with even Omnimon making an appearance. Angewomon also makes an appearance, with Patamon, DemiDevimon, and Gatomon present in the final trailer image. Travelling also means passing Digimon like they were part of the natural environment, making it feel like you are stepping into Digimon habitats or places where humans and Digimon are close.
Combat is described as turn-based with strategic elements. Given the vast amounts of Digimon you can recruit, there are countless battle strategies you can put together. While some players opt to stick with their favourite Digimon, the potential for experimentation gives every Digimon their chance in the spotlight.
