Shape the new age of magic in The Fool’s Apprentice

Posted on February 5, 2025

Knowledge is power in The Fool’s Apprentice, and if a few unskilled apprentices meet an untimely demise in the name of Arcanoscience, so be it. In indie studio The Planar Danse’s upcoming wizard academy management sim, the pursuit of magical mastery is what you make of it. Players assume the role of Arcanist Tharn, a benevolent professor tasked with training the next generation of apprentices… by any means necessary. You can’t make an omelette without cracking a few eggs,  so can you really make leaps and bounds in Arcanoscientific progress without risking a few apprentices?

As the head of your very own Arcane Conservatory, you’ll oversee a blend of strategic management and spell-blasting chaos, guiding the unknowing applicants who arrive at your door. Shape their skills, direct their studies and ensure they don’t step outside of your carefully planned curriculum in a perfectly legal manner. Levitating and tossing apprentices around, controlling and wiping their minds and throwing them through portals into other worlds is legal, right? Your good students will survive, of course. As for the bad? Well, they really should have read the fine print when they enrolled.

Disintegration in The Fool's Apprentice

Customize your academy with cosmetic and eldritch décor, upgrade workstations, and navigate narrative dilemmas, with each reacting to your decisions and shaping the future of magic. Undergo your Arcanist duties and bring about the new age of magic, all under the watchful eye of the city. Your actions will define your reputation, so choose your path carefully. Will you cater to nobles, guilds, and commoners alike, forging alliances and bringing magic to the people? Or will you hoard the secrets of Arcanoscience which, however, will in turn risk unrest and open riots. The choice is yours.

The Fool’s Apprentice is set to release in the first quarter of this year for PC via Steam. If you can’t wait, try the free demo. Just try not to get imprisoned for criminal malpractice before the release of the full game, alright?
