Disco Elysium for mobile gives Revachol to the TikToker

Following their recent reveal of Project C4, ZA/UM has announced a new version of Disco Elysium that brings the critically acclaimed CRPG to Android phones. Built specifically for mobile devices, this re-imagining transforms the game’s isometric world into a vertical, visual novel-style format.

The adaptation will feature both familiar and new artwork, alongside brand-new 360-degree scenes of Revachol to pan around in. The game’s text is moved to the centre of the screen, with the corresponding choices available to swipe through below. The health and morale trackers have been seemingly simplified to two small segmented bars at the top of the screen.

Designed with a focus on shorter, immersive sessions, the adaptation of Disco Elysium aims to cater to the habits of today’s mobile users. Specifically, Denis Havel (also known as Tõnis Haavel, one of the original members of the ZA/UM team) states that this mobile re-imagining is “intending to captivate the TikTok user,” which definitely is an… interesting way to put it.

Set to launch in the winter of this year for Android, Disco Elysium’s mobile debut is truly just around the corner. The first two chapters will be free of charge, then you’ll need to make a one-time purchase to unlock the full experience. Given the highly topical ongoing discussions surrounding ZA/UM, Disco Elysium and its spiritual successors, it will be interesting to see how fans and newcomers alike receive this mobile adaptation.
