The troubled development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has hit another snag and delay in its release date. The game, following a developer switch to Still Wakes the Deep developer The Chinese Room was supposed to release last year, and then the first half of 2025 as per a recent development update. In a new video by Marco Behrmann, Executive Producer on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, we at least know that the game’s development is effectively “done“, but to allow for additional bug testing and performance improvements, it now has a new release window of October 2025.
“The status of the game right now is that the game is done,” Behrmann explains in the video. “We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.” Notably, The Chinese Room has advised on social media that all future Dev Diaries updates regarding the development progress of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be indefinitely paused as the game leads up to its final release.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has had quite the turbulent development. A sequel to the 2004 cult classic PC RPG, the game was first announced all the way back in 2019, for a tentative Q1 2020 release and developed by Hardsuit Labs. Obviously, the pandemic and other complications at the time got in the way of that, with the development of the game slowing to a crawl and with Paradox Interactive cancelling preorders back in 2023 in acknowledgement that the game wasn’t likely to release anytime soon. The game’s development duties have since been taken over by The Chinese Room, and despite some additional minor delays, we appear closer to actually seeing the game’s release than ever.
Barring any final delays, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is set to release in October 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
