Elden Ring Nightreign shows off gameplay features

Posted on May 7, 2025

Souls fans rejoice, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have just released a 10-minute long in-depth overview trailer for the systems in the upcoming standalone co-op action survival game, Elden Ring Nightreign. Grab a couple of your friends to experience this new roguelike with before the darkness consumes you.

Nightreign will see parties of up to three players navigating the dangerous world of Limveld to hunt down the Nightlord over the course of three in-game days. Players must level up, search for treasures and weapons, gather information and hunt down powerful enemies for equally powerful rewards. The Nightfarers are the only hope to prevent Limveld from being plunged into eternal darkness. Players will be able to choose between one of eight Nightfarers to play as.

  • Wylder, a knight who’s proficient in a wide range of melee weapons.
  • Guardian, a warrior equipped with a massive shield who excels in defense.
  • Ironeye, an archer who can focus on enemy weaknesses.
  • Duchess, a virtuous thief with quick reflexes.
  • Raider, resilient and unyielding who tanks minor attacks.
  • Recluse, an ancient magic wielder who can absorb elemental magics.

Plus two other characters, Revenant and Executor who were not shown in this trailer. Each of these unique characters have their own Art and skills to master, meaning varied playstyles and even more room for replayability. Players will be able to uncover lore about each Nightfarer, as well as customise them with unlockable outfits.

Each time you navigate Limveld, the layout of the lands lands will be different as each run is procedurally generated for added replayability. Each enemy type, rewards and bases will change to add challenge and unpredictability to each run. Even more so on this fact are the random encounters which can range from enemy ambushes to full on meteor strikes. As with most roguelikes, progress is limited to a run, but with the uniqueness of each run and the option to learn and master eight different characters, jumping back in over and over again is half the fun.

Elden Ring Nightreign launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on May 30.
